Magnetic Solutions for Energy & Oil/Gas Equipment

Downhole tools and field equipment operate where standard magnets give up: temperatures beyond 150°C, extreme pressure, corrosive media and zero tolerance for failure. We engineer SmCo and high-coercivity NdFeB solutions for magnetic couplings, fishing tools and sensor assemblies that keep operating in the world's harshest environments.

What We See in Energy & Oil/Gas Projects

The environments that destroy ordinary magnets — and the engineering required to survive them.

Extreme downhole temperature

Standard NdFeB loses coercivity fast above 80–120°C. Downhole temperatures of 150–200°C+ cause irreversible demagnetization — and a failed tool at depth costs far more than the magnet.

Corrosive media & H₂S exposure

Drilling fluids, brine and sour gas attack coatings and substrates. Corrosion doesn't just degrade the magnet — it can contaminate the tool and compromise the whole assembly.

Pressure & mechanical shock

Extreme hydrostatic pressure, shock and vibration during drilling operations punish brittle magnetic materials and weak assembly designs. Retention and housing engineering are as critical as the magnet itself.

Failure cost is measured in rig days

A magnetic failure downhole means pulling the string. The cost of retrieval dwarfs any saving from an under-specified magnet — reliability engineering is the only economics that matter here.

How XAK Solves Them

Application-first engineering — we start from your operating conditions, not our catalog.

1

Materials rated for real downhole heat

SmCo 2:17 for continuous service up to 300–350°C, and high-coercivity NdFeB (EH/AH series) where 180–230°C operation with higher energy product is required. Selected against your actual temperature profile, not a datasheet nominal.

2

Corrosion-engineered protection

Coating and encapsulation strategies for brine, chemical and H₂S exposure — including hermetic sealing of magnets within stainless or alloy housings for the harshest service.

3

Assembly-level engineering

We deliver magnet + housing sub-assemblies with mechanical retention, not loose magnets. Press-fit, adhesive and sleeve designs engineered for shock, pressure and thermal cycling.

4

Validation before deployment

Thermal aging and flux measurement verify performance margin before your tool goes in the hole — with test records you can keep on file.
